Register For Referee CourseFirst Time Referee Course
(610 Coloma Street, Sausalito, CA 94965)
This course consists of online study and exams that can be done at your convenience (7-8 hours of online work). The course concludes with a 3 hour field session to be hosted on: August 16, 2026 @ 9:00am – 12:00pm at MLK Jr Park in Sausalito.
There is a maximum of 40 students for the course so please register as soon as possible before the course fills up and to avoid missing the deadline.
*NOTE: The online course work must be completed prior to the field session.
Important Reminder:
Students must arrive at the field at least 15 minutes early and plan to stay for an additional 15 minutes afterwards. Parents are encouraged to join the brief 15-minute meeting, during which crucial information will be shared. Your participation is essential!
- Log in if you have previously registered. If you are a first-time user, create an ID and password and enter your profile information. **IMPORTANT:** Save the login ID and password for future access to your account.
- Select “Referee Program.”
- Click on “Join Us Today.”
- Fill out the required information to create your account.
- Click on “Referee Courses.”
- Click on “Go to Referee Courses.”
- On the “FIRST-TIME REFEREES” page, click on “Go to Course List.”
- Under “Location,” select CA.
You will be able to join our course from the list, the course location is Sausalito .
Once you are registered for the course, please note that all required assignments must be completed to finalize your registration. The deadline for completing the online assignments is the day before the field session.
Students may pause their work at any time by saving their progress and returning later to complete the remaining tasks.
To start working on your assignments:
- Go to “Courses.”
- Select “My Courses.”
- Select your course, then click “Go to Classroom.”
- Click on the “Assignments” tab at the top of the page when you are in your course.
- Ensure that you complete all assignments and obtain a green check mark for each assignment.
The final portion of the New Referee Course is the field session, which must be attended and successfully completed in order to become licensed. Please note that participants who have not completed all required online assignments will not be permitted to take part in the field session.
Once you and/or your child have completed the course and received a referee certificate (your new USSF Referee badge will arrive via mail), please contact MCSFC and our referee assignor will provide instructions on how to register in the MCSFC referee pool.

Referee Incentive Program
Marin City Sausalito FC offers a Referee Incentive Program, to reward referees who consistently make themselves available to work a high volume of games in for MCSFC. Bonus pay is applied towards games worked during each season (Aug-Dec for fall season and Mar-May for spring season). All bonuses will be paid out after the final game of each season.
- 15-19 games – $100
- 20-24 games – $150
- 25-29 games – $200
- 30+ games – $250
Referee Pay Scale (Fall Season)
MCSFC offers a competitive pay scale for our referees. The pay rate is based on various factors including season, age of team, format, duration of games, and number of referees assigned for each game. Please see below for pay rates details.
