Tryouts are open to players (Boys and Girls) born 2020 – 2010. All players, including those rostered on an MCSFC team last season, must register for tryouts. Registering for tryouts will ensure you receive the most up to date information and prompt communications from us. We encourage players to attend as many sessions as possible so coaches get to know the players. The more sessions you participate in the better opportunity we’ll have to see you play.

We understand that tryouts can be challenging for some players. However, we want to assure you that the tryout experience should not be a source of anxiety rather it’s an opportunity to play and show your willingness to give your best effort. Players play their best when they are relaxed and have fun so try not to be stressed about the tryout. Focus on enjoying the process and have a good time. There’s no need to be nervous! Remember that we are not just evaluating a player’s soccer skills and abilities but most importantly their character and coach-ability.

• Registration for Tryouts is mandatory and helps us communicate with attendees.
• Plan to arrive 15 minutes before each session begins.
• At the assigned time and date for your age group, check in to receive a player ID number.
• Wear a white tee shirt and appropriate training gear including shorts, cleats, and shin guards.
• Bring a water bottle.
• Shortly after the tryouts conclude (or sooner), we will reach out with the tryout results directly to your email.

Invitation Acceptance

Once a player is offered a spot on a MCSFC team, families will have 48 hours to register and accept the invitation. We know this feels like a quick turnaround, so we want to provide some context.

With 8 clubs in our area conducting tryouts during the same window, this 48-hour registration period (or by a specific date) has become the standard across all competitive programs. It ensures fairness and consistency for families and clubs alike.

The quick response time allows MCSFC to finalize rosters efficiently, notify alternates if needed, and meet strict deadlines required by NorCal for team registration. Lastly, it also helps coaches and staff prepare for the upcoming season without delays, benefiting everyone involved.

Age Groups

Teams are formed by Age Groups in accordance with US Club Soccer. Players may play on a team of an older age group (with DOC approval) but are not allowed to play on a team of a younger age group.

Playing Format

U7 – U8 | 4 v 4
U9 – U10 | 7 v 7
U11 – U12 | 9 v 9
U13 – U15 | 11 v 11
